Panther’s Tale
Every Wednesday morning as the students walk in the main doors of Derby High, there are greeters there to hold the door and welcome them. No matter the time or temperature, these senior citizens are there.
“They come every Wednesday morning and then leave after,” junior Taylor Harris said.
This task seems so small, but the impact is huge.
“They say good morning to every single person. They never miss a person, and they smile when they say it, too,” Harris said.
In return, three junior girls wanted to find a way to simply say “thank you” for their kindness.
Any student could write a thank you note to the greeters and drop it off in Q24, or give it to Taylor Harris, Anna Schaar or Jenna Terrell. These notes will then be delivered directly to the senior greeters.
“They deserve to know that they’re appreciated,” Harris said.
