When some people pick out an outfit, they start with their shirts or with their jeans.

But for senior Agness Mbezi, she starts with her shoes.

“I think that my shoes should always be the star of the show,” Mbezi said. “Once I start with my shoes, the wheels in my head start turning about what kind of outfit I want to wear for that day.”

Mbezi started collecting shoes when she was a freshman in high school.

“I think I realized that I wanted to change my style more in ninth grade,” she said. “That’s when I really started to like the ’90s music era and style and a big part of the ’90s was shoe culture.”

With more than 25 pairs of shoes in her collection, Mbezi’s collection consists of the latest designs. Some are embellished and others are classic style.

“I think the coolest pair of shoes that I have are my gray barbershop dunks,” she said. “They have a barber clip and the barber pole on them.”

In the future, she hopes to continue to increase her collection.

“I still have more shoes that I want to buy. I’ll just have to wait until I get more money,” she said.
