Traditions, family a part of winter

Junior Riley Xayoulenh’s winter traditions involve family.

“I usually open presents as normal, but me and my family usually get together and cook and we usually have a feast afterwards,” he said. “We usually go to a nice restaurant or we just hang out usually.“

A favorite game to play with family is lotteria, which is Mexican bingo.

In lotteria, there’s a set of cards that are drawn very quickly so you have to listen carefully and place your chip when you hear your card get called.

“We either do a row or we do blackout cause it’s fun,” he said.

Xayoulenh also does other activities like going outside and building a snowman.

“We built an igloo last year and it was really nice,” he said.
