Derby High School football doesn’t open its season until Sept. 2, but be prepared for a packed, loud and energetic football stadium on Thursday night because it’s time for this year’s edition of Derby Night Lights.
The annual event showcases scrimmages of many Derby football participants, ranging from grade school athletes to the Panther varsity team. It’s an opportunity for both the junior football and high school members to display what they have been working on since last season.
The first game is scheduled to start at 5:00 p. m. at Panther Stadium; however, you might want to get there ahead of time to find a seat because there will be hundreds of excited parents and fans ready to see some talented athletes play for their youth team or for the defending 6A champions.
