Baseball moves on to state with regional championship

The Panthers are headed back to state after key wins against Dodge City and Washburn Rural on Tuesday night in regional play.

The team sealed a close victory over Washburn Rural, winning 1-0.

Senior Mitchell Johnson had 10 strikeouts and junior Colton Ruedy scored the game’s only run.

After their duel with Washburn Rural, the Panthers cruised to a 10-0 win against Dodge City.

Junior Max White had six strikeouts, and seniors Layne Sweat, Markkus Jones and Camdan Cooper and junior Caden Riojas, Ruedy and sophomore Rowan Foster each scored a run, while senior Andrew Miller scored two. 

The Panthers will advance to the first round of the 6A tournament on May 25, playing at Hoglund Stadium in Lawrence.
