Spooky Scary… Stranger Things?

Stranger Things is a widely popular Netflix original series released in the summer of 2016. After a fan base was created, it was obvious that a second season was a necessity.

Season Two was released on Netflix on Oct. 27. Fans are filled with excitement and curiosity, awaiting such an iconic day.

“I am really excited for season two, I hope it is as good or better than the first season, and I plan to go to a party to binge it,” junior Adreanna Needham said.

The series is set in 1983-1984, using 80s-like synthesizer pieces of music that were created for the show’s soundtrack itself. It also uses many 80s movies references, such as scenes from E.T., The Goonies and Close Encounters of the Third Kind. These references, and even the show itself, brings much nostalgia to people growing up in that time period.

“It reminds me of the 80s because they have the song by The Clash [“Should I stay or Should I Go”] in it and I always hated that song,” Steve Pierce said.

Being the same age of the characters in the show in that time makes it easy for him to feel that connection to the show.

“It’s nostalgic to me because of the way the show is produced. I was a big fan of Steven Spielberg movies in the 80s, and the scenes (from Stranger Things) are composed to look like scenes from those movies,” he said.

Stranger Things really opens up new imaginations and ideas to those who were not yet around in this era but wish they were. This Sci-Fi-Thriller-Drama is nostalgic, imaginative, very well put together and great for anyone to spend a weekend to binge.

Unless you’re afraid of demogorgons or alternate dimensions, of course.
