Emily Coffey is moving to Seattle after two years teaching at Derby High.

“The rumors are true: my husband and I will be moving to Seattle in July. While we are so excited about this move, I will definitely miss DHS,” Coffey wrote in an e-mail.

“The past two years here have brought so many memories, and I’ve loved having the opportunity to watch my students accomplish goals, personal and academic, and celebrate new stages of life.

“There are too many funny situations from class to name, but I will miss all of those hilarious, unexpected moments with my blocks. I’ll also miss my colleagues.

“Being surrounded by a department of passionate English teachers has helped me to grow professionally and encouraged me to step up my game when challenges arose.

“Overall, DHS has been a wonderful place that has impacted my life and touched my heart far beyond what words can describe.”
