Scary reminder to be aware

Abby Glanville

When walking and or driving around late at night, be careful.

I walked out of Dairy Queen after a six-hour shift. I got in my car to head to Walmart. As soon as I pulled out of the parking lot, another car in the parking lot turned on.

I thought it was a coincidence until they kept following.

They followed about three cars’ distance behind me. I knew something was really wrong when they were still behind me at the corner of Buckner and Red Powell.

I had a feeling that getting out of my car would not end well. I continued onto Patriot to see how far the car would go. I went down Rock then back onto Madison.

I decided the police station was the best place. As soon as I pulled in the parking lot, the car sped down K-15. I sat in the lot for a little while then headed home.

I told my dad when I got home. He posted about the whole event on the Derby page.  Everyone was telling me how smart I was to drive around and to not get out of my car. Some said I should have called the police.

It was honestly one of the scariest moments of my life. I’ve read and watched too much about human trafficking and kidnapping to not be aware.

I walk with my keys in between my knuckles. I know not to walk to my car on my phone, not to get in my car if there is a big van next to it and to not sit around in my car.
