Derby played at Bishop Carroll, the reigning Class 5A champions and left with a 24-6 victory.

Derby’s offense was still deadly even after junior Grant Adler left the game with an injury on the Panthers’ second play.

Senior Hunter Igo stepped in and led Derby to a touchdown, the game’s first points. Jackson Syring made a 25-yard field goal to end the half for the 10-6 lead.

In the third quarter, Carroll fumbled the ball, and senior Cade Lindsey grabbed the ball and ran for a touchdown.

“It was fun and exciting, and it doesn’t happen very often. So when it happens, it’s pretty good,” Lindsey said.

Derby is 4-0 and has outscored opponents 191-19. The Panthers will play host to Salina South on Sept. 28 for Homecoming.
