Futures Fair a prime opportunity for high school students

Students learn more about opportunities in their future directly from college workers themselves. On Tuesday, students in Kansas high schools were invited to attend the Futures Fair held at Koch Arena in Wichita.

“You can take courses like ones at a four-year public, or private institution, but it’s much less than it would be otherwise,” Cowley College representative Autumn Mumford said.

With such a wide selection of colleges, students kept themselves busy learning at individual booths at their leisure.

Many of the colleges provided pamphlets along with their verbal information, talking about possible majors/areas of study, as well as applicable scholarships.

When asked what some of the most important qualifications were, Fort Hays representative Dani Hartung said “the ACT is incredibly important.”

Hartung said that “The community is what we are invested in.”

The meeting was free for high school students and lasted for nearly an hour.
