The importance of visiting colleges

Reagan Cowden

Visiting colleges is crucial to making the final decision on where you want to go to college. When you go visit, you get to experience the campus firsthand.

You are taken on a tour of the campus with a student from that college. They tell you all the ins and outs about the school as well as all the things you can be involved in.

Normally, they personalize the visit to your interests. If you want to be a biology major, they let you meet with a professor in that area. If you want to play basketball in college, then they will try and set up a meeting for you with the coach.

You will also be able to meet with an admissions counselor. They will talk to you about the scholarships available for you depending on your GPA and ACT score.

You cannot simply base your decision off the college’s website. When you visit you get the “real feel” of the college. So visit as many colleges as you can before making one of the most important decisions in your life.
