Derby wrestling won the Class 6A state title on Saturday at Hartman Arena. It was Derby’s first team title since 1986.

Derby got state championships from seniors Crew Squires (152 pounds) and Triston Wills (182 pounds), who won his second title.

“I kind of expected to win, but you sometimes don’t expect to win. We expected the best and prepared for the worse,” Squires said.

Senior Bryce Westmoreland (195 pounds) won his second third-place medal. Senior Cade Lindsey (170 pounds) won a fourth medal, finishing third. Lindsey won a title in 2016.

Sophomore Cody Woods (106 pounds), senior Cooper Ross (145 pounds), senior Ronnie Washington (285 pounds) and Taidon Wills (160 pounds) all won their first state medals.
