Senior Michael Johnson scored his first career touchdown during the game against Wichita North on Nov. 1 in the first round of the playoffs.

“Honestly, I didn’t expect my name to get called until late in the fourth quarter, so when I heard it early in the second… ,” Johnson said. “After scoring I just wanted to cry tears of joy I had finally scored in a varsity game.”

Johnson’s touchdown put Derby up 63-0 before halftime.

“Mikey (Johnson) has a couple really good seniors ahead of him but he works just as hard as they do,” coach Brandon Clark said. “He’s a great kid and he deserved an opportunity just like all of the other seniors.”
