Drama club prepares for The Addams Family

Jordan Parcell

Spooky Season may be over, but the drama club is staying in the Spooky Spirit with their upcoming production of the musical adaptation of The Addams Family.

The club will perform the musical on Feb. 20-22.

The musical is based upon the characters created by Charles Addams, who created them in his comic strip The Addams Family. Although there has been a television series and multiple movie adaptations, this show is the first stage production based on these characters. The musical, with music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa and book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice opened on Broadway in 2010.

The show focuses primarily on Wednesday Addams and her new, normal, boyfriend, Lucas. The two families are brought together at the Addams’ house at Wednesday’s invitation. The two families have many differences, and struggle to see eye to eye about their children and their relationship.
