Baseball, track, girls soccer compete in postseason Thursday

Thursday will be a busy day for Panthers athletics.

Baseball will be playing at home in regional semifinals, girls soccer is playing in its regional final at Manhattan and track is competing at Lawrence Free State.

Derby baseball will play in its regional semifinal on at Panther Field on Thursday. Sixth-seeded Wichita East (10-10) will play seventh-seeded Wichita Northwest at 1 p.m.

Top-seeded Derby (11-6) plays winless Wichita Southeast at 3 p.m., Derby defeated Southeast 11-0 on Friday as Blayten Tullis threw a no-hitter on May 12.  

The championship game is at 5 p.m. for a chance to go to the 6A tournament. The state championship is at Kansas’ Hoglund Stadium on May 25-26.

The track regional will be at Lawrence Free State with Junction City, Manhattan,Topeka, Washburn Rural, Wichita East and Wichita Southeast. The regional was moved to Thursday due to expected bad weather.

The girls soccer team (11-6) will play at Manhattan (13-3)  for the first time this season.

This is the winningest season for the current crop of seniors. If they win the regional semifinal, they will advance to the quarterfinals on Tuesday.
