High temperatures cause problems

How has the high temperatures affected your football practices?

“If it’s too hot, then the players can’t wear pads and we only can practice for two hours. Our managers do a good job of having water and ice available for everyone. We give them a couple extra breaks here and there.

“If we see a kid that looks like he is overheating, then we send him to our trainer.”

Custodian Joey Jennings

As a custodian, how has the heat affected the way you do your job?

“The higher humidity actually makes the floor stickier, so when I’m pushing the dust mop against the floor, it catches more often and makes it harder to catch dust.”

While having practices outside in the heat, was it difficult?

“Our coach has been doing this thing where one group of girls practice between 3:30-4:30 and a second group of girls practice between 4:15-5:15, so not everybody is practicing at the same time.

Football player Landon Hanson

How have your practices been because of the heat?

“The practices are difficult because of the heat, but we just have to do it for the love of the game and because it is worth it.”
