AfJROTC Competiton by Frani Medina

On Nov. 18, the AFJROTC drill teams along with both Color Guard teams competed at Wichita North.

In the Individual Drill Down competition over 75 cadets competed, sophomore Xander Conner placed third. Derby took first place in the Unarmed Regulation Drill category, first in Unarmed Color Guard, first in Armed Color Guard.

“I had trust in my fellow cadets. I knew that when we went there we were going to dominate. We left there knowing we dominated, and I am so proud of every single person that is in drill along with the Color Guard. I think we performed our best and I can’t wait till the next competition because we will dominate that as well,” freshman Danton Pore said.

They were confident going in.

“I feel like our team has worked really really hard to completely crush the competition and with a lot of determination we can take first place,” junior Kaileigh Smith said.

Both drill teams practiced in the mornings on Monday through Thursday.

“I feel like our team has practiced hard and I think we’re going to smash the competition and take home first place,” Pore said
