The Panthers won nine medals at the Wichita Regional DECA tournament at Newman University.
Junior Esteban Macias stood out in the competition with first-place medals in Human Resources Management and was the overall champion at regionals.
“Basically, there are two stages at the competition,” Macias said. “The first is where you do a little test over basic business terms and things like that. And in the second you do a mock interview with a judge over a random topic. You get 10 minutes to prepare a solution (for the interview). It’s actually really fun.”
At the last tournament, Macias got first place in Business Management & Admin Exam and Human Resource Management.
Even though Macias is a repeat champion, he doesn’t have a set strategy for winning.
“I don’t really know why I win,” Macias said. “I’m not going to lie. I did not really prepare. I just kind of went to competition and did my thing. I guess I just kind of have my charisma which really helps me get more points in my interview.”
