During the winter, senior Monica Lozano and her family take a trip to spend Christmas in Mexico. 

“When we first went to Mexico we took cars and we only barely just started going to Mexico through the big buses,” Lozano said. 

The trip takes about a day to get there, and then they stay a week to share time with family.

“We don’t really do anything – we have a tree, but we don’t really do gifts,” Lozano said. “We just sit around all day and eat.”

During Covid years she has spent holiday time at her grandma’s house making a big dinner.

“We hand make tamales and tortillas and soup,” Lozano said.
