The Panthers host the Campus Colts in Derby Friday for Homecoming.
This game is important not only to the players but all of the students and the fans. Last year the Panthers defeated Campus 70-13 in relatively easy fashion.
With Campus only being 9.4 miles away from Derby, the teams treat it as their cross-town teams.
“I was raised in an anti Campus household,” junior Hagen Hamblin said.
Homecoming candidate and quarterback Braxton Clark will watch from the sidelines as he is out with a tear in his kidney.
A lot of the focus will be on junior Easton Splane, who will start at quarterback. Splane is playing both sides on the ball on Friday also starting at safety.
“We whooped them every year,” teacher Garrett Labarge said.
Labarge played football for the Panthers over a decade ago. The rivalry was still as important as it is today, showing the true testament of these two teams’ rivalry.
