If your creativity is stumped or you are searching for an artistic outlet or even just looking for some new friends and fun experiences, the National Art Honor Society (NAHS) might be for you.
NAHS is an afterschool art club that meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month, from 3:15-4:15 p.m..
The club is run by art teachers Natalie Brown and Renee Fritts.
“My favorite part of the club is the art community that it creates and represents for the students and the arts,” Fritts said.
The club does a lot of community service, with each member expected to serve 15 hours per year. Students receive a ribbon for achieving the goal.
NAHS paints faces at football games, painted a mural at the Dillons on Rock Road and is still working on the mural in K-hall.
The community in art seems to bring people together.
“I like getting to hang out with my friends, and painting murals is really fun,” junior Brooke Dubois said.
Students have elected officers for the remainder of the year – junior Amelia Barger was elected president, and junior Grace Summers elected vice president.
“I like that we get to do volunteer-based activities while maintaining an art aspect,” Barger said.
NAHS is a great way to connect with people while doing art and learning new things.
