Avery Kelley, Kyler Demel, Rylan Syring, and Addyson Canfield, are all signing their letters of intent in each of their respective sports. All four of these athletes have done great things for Derby athletics.
Avery Kelley is signing to Newman University to play Volleyball. Kelly who has played varsity volleyball from 2021-2023 for Derby has become a great all around player. “It was very rewarding coaching her, it’s hard to describe someone so awesome,” volleyball coach Shelby Kraus said.
Kyler Demel and Addyson Canfield are both signing for softball. Demel is going to Butler Community College and Canfield is going to Mclennan Community College in Texas. Both Demel and Canfield played softball all 4 years in high school. “Addy was our pitcher all last year and she was amazing, and for Kyler she was an amazing teammate and leader,” coach Christine Weve said.
Rylan Syring is a power lifter for Derby. With only 1 year under her belt with the power lifting team being relatively new Syring joined and immediately made a name for herself. Syring is signing to Ottawa University, receiving her scholarship as the first female power lifter from Derby to receive a scholarship. “I’m beyond proud of her,” coach Mitchell Welch said.
All four of these players are great in their sports and have earned such a great accomplishment. Each one of them will move on to college and go down as some of the best athletes from Derby
