Setting up the Christmas tree is as much a tradition as Christmas day itself and is cherished by families with as much love as unwrapping presents because after all, you can not have presents under the Christmas tree without the tree.
Some families have a special day that is dedicated to the beloved tradition, whether it be as soon as the Thanksgiving feast is in their bellies or as late as the first snowfall of December.
There are many reasons behind setting up their Christmas tree on a certain day, for sophomore Raiden Scriven, he believes that Christmas should not interfere with any other special day.
“We put it up the day after Thanksgiving so it doesn’t overlap with other holidays,” sophomore Raiden Scriven said.
Contrastingly sophomore Ashlyn Snead believes that people can ignore Thanksgiving by setting the Christmas tree up and want to savor each and every part of their turkey before cutting into the Christmas ham.
“We usually put our tree on the first weekend of December, never before Thanksgiving. Too many people put their tree up before Thanksgiving is over and overlook the holiday,” sophomore Ashlyn Snead said.
Sophomore Jackson Flanders agrees that Thanksgiving should be fully celebrated and all of the thankfulness should be spread around before you start wishing a merry Christmas.
“My family normally puts up our Christmas tree right after Thanksgiving because Thanksgiving deserves its tiny bit of celebration,” Flanders said
Christmas is one of the most special holidays of the year for many people around the country and sometimes putting up the Christmas tree with your family on the first of December creates the same feeling of waking up on the 25th.
