On the Jan. 6th meet at North High School, the boys swim team qualified for state in the 200 meter freestyle with a time of 1:37.06.
Along with the team, two individual swimmers qualified for state.
Senior Kooper Weaver, coming back from a back injury, qualified for state in the 100 meter butterfly with a time of 57.02.
“It feels nice, especially after coming off an injury,” Weaver said. said.
Senior Gavin Morton qualified in the 50 meter freestyle with a time of 22.9.
“It’s a very rewarding experience when you finally get the time cut you were working for,” Morton said. “It can be hard to continually get up at 4:30am for the duration of the season if you don’t have a goal in mind, but qualifying for state sparks a renewed vigor.”
