The new year is bringing changes into the school.
The check in for homeroom is suddenly changing again.
Last semester students went straight to other classes during homeroom – but now students have to go to their own homeroom first, with a pass, in order to go to another homeroom.
The travel confused students. Getting lost or being late – not knowing where or when to go. However, this new method of homeroom traveling comes with a purpose.
“This is just one way of holding everyone accountable so that we get as many students to the homeroom they were supposed to be,” assistant principal Cheryl Parks said. “Sometimes students are not where they are supposed to be (and) are doing things that they should not be doing.”
This not-so-new method was in place last year; however, it went away for the first semester of the 2023-2024 school year. Now, things are coming back in place.
“We get as many students to the homeroom they (are) supposed to be,” Parks said. “They can get the help that they need – which is the point of homeroom.”
