Christmas budget worries an issue regardless of age

Kayli Marczynski

Christmas is a magical time of the year for me, at least it used to be. It was about opening presents by the fire, eating lots of food, and spending time with my family, but now reality has struck me.

Christmas costs a lot of money.

And yes, I’m only 17 years old, but this year I want to buy gifts for five people, right? So I total up how much money each of their gifts will cost, and it’s over $100. I have $23, and maybe a few handfuls of change if I’m lucky.

All of my negative feelings over being so worried about having enough money for gifts is ruining my cheer for the holidays.

My point of this is to not worry about the gifts and materials and just relax. Enjoy the cozy blankets, flickering fire, and the warmth that you get by being surrounded by the Christmas love that is in the air.

But of course, to end this saga, I’m making all of my gifts homemade, so it only is going to cost me about $30 dollars.

Anyone got any spare change?
