Derby freshmen and sophomores are taking the ACT Aspire, a practice test for the ACT, on Wednesday.

“I’m a little nervous about getting a bad score,” freshman Kevin Washington said.

Freshmen and sophomores take the Aspire to get ready for the actual ACT they take as a junior. Most colleges expect students to take the ACT.

Juniors and seniors don’t have school on Wednesday, but they are encouraged to do community service.

“The Aspire was not that bad, but I wish I could have taken the real ACT instead,” said Megan Keil, who plans to sleep and go to swim practice.
