Derby alum Sherrone Moore was honored at Tuesday’s basketball game after being inducted into the DHS hall of fame in the fall.
Moore, a 2004 Derby grad, played football for the Panthers. He was the offensive coordinator for Michigan, serving as the interim head coach when Michigan’s coach Jim Harbaugh was suspended. After Harbaugh was named the Los Angeles Chargers’ coach in the NFL, Michigan named Moore its head coach.
“It’s awesome, it’s a blessing,” Moore said. “I can’t thank the lord enough times. It’s great.”
Moore learned some valuable lessons while at DHS, saying that he wouldn’t be where he is without Panther football.
“The teamwork, the camaraderie, I think it all really just started when I was at Derby, the love for the game and all,” Moore said.
