The Scholars Bowl competition on Feb 1st was a success for the team.

“It went really smoothly. We took 1st in our pool so the top three from the two different pools went to the finals round and then the top four from the finals round made it to state,” Scholars Bowl sponsor, Rachel Hovey said. 

But how do the Scholars Bowl rankings work? 

“There’s two pools of seven teams each. There were 14 teams total – there were seven teams in each pool. So you did a round robin with seven teams each where each team plays all the other teams,” Hovey said. 

After that initial round, there’s a finals round. 

“And within that pool we took 1st, and then the top three of each of those pools made it to finals. So there was a six team round robin final where every team played all the teams and the top four from the finals pool qualified for state,” Hovey said. “We took 3rd so we qualified.”

On Saturday, Feb 10th the team will go on to compete at the Wichita East High School
