Some people find joy in sitting down and opening a book.
“When I’m reading a good book, it feels like watching TV,” sophomore Hannah Morrison said. “I know that sounds weird but sometimes that’s how it feels whenever I’m reading.”
On a random day, sophomore Maranda King decided that instead of watching TV, she wanted to give reading a try.
“I got into reading because I never could sit through a TV series so instead I tried reading and realized that I never wanted to stop. I would get very invested,” King said.
Reading books is a way to calm nerves and escape reality.
“Reading makes me feel calm and like I’m living in a dream instead of reality,” King said.
Sometimes readers don’t have much time to read the books that they want to.
“When I have time, I read as much as I can. With three kids, this isn’t always easy,” teacher Megan MacKay said.
To truly enjoy reading a good book, setting the scene is part of the fun.
“I turn on my led lights or the fairy lights I have around my closet with my lamp, and it makes the perfect reading light,” Morrison said.
After reading for a while, Morrison found a favorite.
“I have a couple, but one of my favorites is ‘Verity’ by Colleen Hoover because it has my two favorite genres, which are thriller and romance. I think I read it in like five days because of how good it was,” Morrison said.
