February is a month of change, the weather is getting warmer, winter is ending, winter sports are ending, and spring sports are beginning. Whether you are in tennis, track, swim, or golf, the next 11 weeks of your life will be filled with practices.
Sometimes the shift from doing a sport all winter to doing another sport all spring can be a tough one, for junior Robbie Ashurst he has to put aside his love for swimming and focus on running once again even if he did not want his winter season to end quite yet.
“I really love boys swim. I’m really sad that next year is my last year but it gives me time to improve and go to state next year. I’m not all excited about track, but it will help me in the long run for cross country which is my favorite sport,”
One of the biggest spring sports teams is the track team, as all people are able to find a place on the team. If you are not a fan of running then you can join the throwing team, or if you would rather jump then there is a place for you as well. The wide variety of opportunities is one of the reasons that so many people choose track to occupy their spring.
“At first I was hesitant to do track as it’s my first year, but now doing track is exciting and I am glad that I am able to find something that I like doing in the spring,” Sophomore Raiden Scriven said.
Another large group that is constantly getting bigger is the tennis team where athletes can put it all out onto the court and have fun while doing it.
