Environmental sciences classes have been learning about the wastes and pollution of water. Students were given an assignment to create their own water filters to test clean and dirty water impurities. Resources such as plastic cups, sand, and activated carbon were given to create their filters.
“I liked being able to create something and the switch up from paper class work,” junior
Raven said.
Different materials could be layered in order to create a functional way for the water to flow throughout the plastic cups. Everyone was allowed a total of 5 cups and two days to build their projects. Students also got to choose their desired groups or to work on their own.
“My favorite part was the group I got to work with, I mainly helped with the reinforcement of our filter,” senior Taylor Kellogg said.
