The spring sports kicked off and the baseball team had a tough first game with one of the top 4A teams in the state.
The team got off to a hot start in their jamboree going 3-0. Senior Caden Riojas led the team that weekend going 8 for 9 at the plate with multiple walks as well.
“Baseball is 90% mental for me so it felt good to get those hits because now it’s just mental because I know I have the skill to do it,” Riojas said.
They lost the next Saturday to Bishop Carroll, which was the top ranked school in the state after beating Heights during the week.
“It was our first loss, it was good for us, but it was tough. I think we realized that errors kill us. We just gotta play better as a team,” Riojas said.
