As the boys soccer season kicked off, the excitement grew among the varsity players returning to the field.
The athletes, prepared by past experiences, are ready to lead their team to new heights with a blend of determination, skill and passion.
With the loss of 13 players due to graduation in May, it’s up to the current seniors to lead.
“As juniors, we looked up to the seniors for guidance and strength,” senior Ansel Ashby said.
“Now, as seniors ourselves, we feel the weight of that responsibility, but we’re ready to lead our team with the same dedication. It’s like a divine calling, knowing that my little brother is now part of this journey makes it even more special. Together, we’ll strive to honor the legacy left by those before us.”
The players are not only focused on individual achievements, but are committed to the team’s success.
“My personal goals for this season are winning the regional championship and helping out the team. As for the team, my expectations for this year are for everyone to play as a team and to not give up as the games get harder,” junior Angel Campos said.
As they look forward to this season, there’s a common goal: to leave a lasting legacy.
“We want to set a new standard for future teams,” junior Alex Denesongkham said. “By the end of the season, we hope to have not only achieved our goals but also inspired the younger players to continue striving for excellence.”
