The start of a new school year approaches and there’s been few changes to the rules. The biggest change would be homeroom, now Pr1metime, being in the middle of the day as our 4th block.
“I think it’s hard, especially when sports start and having to leave early for games, you’re going to have to worry about missing the last hour of the day,” sophomore Giana Genosky said.
But with homeroom (Pr1metime) being in the middle of the day, this can prevent students from skipping the class.
Another thing that’s different about this year is most teachers are more strict about the cell phone policy.
To some students, these rules may not affect them, but some students may have strong feelings against these changes.
“I believe that the phone policy will be beneficial considering how out of control it was when I was in middle school,” freshman John Packard said.
It’s very common for students to be distracted by their phone for many reasons, one being that they may not think the class or what is being taught is important enough or may not care.
But teachers who enforce this rule and without phones becoming a distraction, students have more of a chance with academic growth. Some schools even have a full cell phone ban.
In many ways, it may seem some rules are enforced just for a small amount of time.
“I think they will be strict for a few more weeks and then it’ll lessen since that’s how it was last year,” Genosky said.
With any rule that is made, they’re made for our long term benefits and improvements.
