The Panthers are still unbeaten through Week 3 after a 59-7 win at Salina South Friday night.
While the game was delayed due to lightning and weather, Derby had a 23-0 lead before quarterback Drew Kemp and the Panther offense touched the field.
Senior Martel Jackson returned the opening kick for an 86-yard touchdown.
Then senior Easton Splane pushed the ball out of the back of the end zone on a muffed snap to the Salina punter, leading to a safety.
“I really wanted to get on that ball for a touchdown,” Splane said. “I slid much further than I thought I would due to the field being wet.”
James Middlebrook followed with a touchdown on the kick return.
One more three and out led by senior Milan Colvin, who had several sacks, led to a Da’Saahn Brame punt return for a touchdown.
The defense played well, forcing three and outs and getting an interception from Issac Nikolas, his second in two games.
“I want to keep my streak going,” he said. “It gives the offense the ball and it gives us energy. We just have to keep getting as many three and outs as possible.”
Brame scored on the first offensive drive for the Panthers, a 48-yard reception from Kemp.
Sophomore running back Arieus Finley had two touchdowns on the ground.
Backup quarterback Aiden Heckathorn connected with wide receiver Daylen Bledsoe for 27 yards and a score to put the Panthers up 51-0 at the half.
Blade Clark played the third quarter at quarterback, then Krystian Dorsey scored on a nine-yard run in the fourth.
The Panthers play host to Maize on Sept. 27.
