Migc Aiyanyor

Junior

Aiyanyor transferred from Salina Central in January after playing for football. Now he competes for Panthers track and field.

Q: When did you start running?

A: I started running when I was in the 5th grade.

Q: How many events do you run in track?

A: Four — 100 meters, 200 meters, 4×100 relay and long jump.

Q: What is your favorite event?

A: The 200. It’s a fun race.

Q: Are you going to play football next season?

A: I think I will play next season. It’s exciting. A new football team it should be fun.

Q: How do you make friends so quickly at a new school?

A: I kind of knew a couple people from sports.

Q: Do you think knowing other athletes makes it easier to transition?

A: I think that helps a lot, getting the chemistry made before.

Q: You filmed some of the basketball games, do you just do that for fun?

A: At my old school I did a lot of promotional videos for basketball, any sports. And I was pretty good at that, so I kind of just transferred that over here and post them on Twitter.

Q: What’s your favorite thing about Derby so far?

A: Probably the energy of the sports. The energy is way different here than my other school, so I like that.
