Spring sports recap (April 16)

Eleven athletes signed to play college sports on Wednesday while all the sports thrived this week.

*Softball faced Garden City and Maize South in Maize on Tuesday. The Panthers managed to win both games after beating Garden City 10-0 in just five innings and then Maize South 7-4.

*Baseball faced Maize South on Tuesday. The Panthers lost the first game 10-2 but dominated early in the second game, finishing with a 13-3 win.

*Girls soccer played back-to-back this week — first against Wichita Northwest on Monday and then Andover Central on Tuesday.

Against Northwest, freshman Brianna Moore had four goals in the 5-2 final.

Against Andover Central, the Panthers walked away with the first tie of the season 0-0.

*Girls swim went to Newton on Tuesday and placed second overall behind the Railers.

*Track went to Wichita State on Friday for the Shockers Pre-State Challenge with other schools from 6A to 1A

Senior Adrian Brown took first out of 17 in the Pentathlon.

*Boys varsity tennis had two matches this week, the first on Monday at Collegiate.

The only home match of the season was Thursday where the team took second out of eight teams.

*Boys varsity golf had an invitational in Newton on Tuesday.
