The girls tennis team qualified five players for the Class 6A meet, which is Friday and Saturday at Harmon Park, Prairie Village.
“I am really excited to get the opportunity to go and everyone on the team is really excited to go. We all have worked really hard for it,” sophomore Emma Flaharty said.
Along with Flaharty, Ella Boline qualified in singles, while Flaharty and her doubles partner Isabella Nikolova qualified in doubles along with the team of Karlie Demel and Loren Sweat.
Getting to the postseason was a big goal.
“I think I got a lot better compared to last year because I started doing stuff over the summer and started training with my doubles partner and a college coach, so he got us a lot better and a lot more prepared for this season,” junior Karlie Demel said.
The Panthers want to succeed at state.
“We may not win it, but we need to get there; that’s our goal,” Demel said.
Flaharty added: “I guess my goal was to just have fun and whatever happens, happens.”
