During the football halftime show on November 15, band director Adam DeVault, who has been teaching music for 25 years, was recognized from the South Central District for this year’s “High School Music Educator of the Year” award.
“The award is very well deserved, it’s not very often you find somebody that teaches in the same place for that long…especially now,” assistant band director Rachel Villareale said.
With DeVault as the director, the band program keeps inspiring kids and is growing every year.
“I was really happy and excited for him,” sophomore Evie Stanfield said. “I think I’ve grown a lot as a musician with him as my director.”
Being a band director comes with a lot of responsibilities, but there’s something deeper that keeps him going.
“I love music and I love teaching it to kids,” DeVault said. “My passion for music and sharing that with students is what drives me to keep doing this.”
