Taking photos has come a long way since the daguerreotype.
The growth of smartphones and photography has gone fast, and one of the most popular developments is the 0.5 setting.
The setting was originally made for better landscape photos and a wider range but people decided to use it in a different way.
The 0.5 camera’s fish-eye effect results in manipulated selfies with dramatic limbs differences and extremely tiny bodies.
Imagine trying to get everyone into frame but there’s not quite enough space for all those people. By using this setting, there’s no longer that problem.
“I like them because you can cover a lot of space with them,” sophomore Diamond Schneider said.
The 0.5 selfies have had a major effect on the younger generation.
“I personally love taking 0.5 photos with my friends and family but I also use it to get more detailed pictures like of the sky, for example,” sophomore Alillya Thomas said.
Taking a 0.5 picture requires you to have a camera that can zoom out to that 0.5 zoom. Most take them with their back camera and their arms raised up high.
“I use it to take funny pictures of friends because of its wider range,” Thomas said.
Today 0.5 photos have become such a huge hit that companies have taken note and are making the setting more accessible to everyone.
