The girls basketball team is very young but filled with new talent and players looking to lead.

Leadership is a key component for success in the classroom and is a skill that can be applied onto the basketball court.

For junior Karlie Demel, leading on the basketball court is new.

“Taking on a new role of being a leader this year has been very different for me, but I love it. It is very easy to be on this team because of how close of a group we have and how much love we all have for each other,” Demel said.

Being on the basketball team comes with many challenges during the games while being on and off of the bench.

“The most important thing to remember on my court for me personally is that God is with me and no matter what happens, whether I have 30 points or 30 turnovers, that I am still loved and my team always has my back,” Demel said.

The girls basketball team plays Maize South, which is 3-0, tonight at 6 p.m.
