The Panther bowling team kicked off its season with a successful outing at Bowlero Northridge, where it competed in its first triangular meet.
The Varsity girls’ team secured first place with 1,926 pins, defeating their nearest competitor by 14 pins. Senior Lacey Baney led the way for Derby, finishing second among individuals with 553 pins, while junior Taylor Truesdale took third with 506 pins.
The Varsity boys team rounded out the competition, finishing in second place with a combined score of 2,457 pins, falling short by just 24 pins. Junior Cash Carns earned third place in individual standings with a score of 629 pins, closely followed by senior Evan Clark, who placed fourth with 622 pins.
“Very disappointed in multiple aspects, but we did the best we could with the lane conditions that we were on,” Carns said.
The boys’ and girls’ teams dominated in the Junior Varsity division. The boys scored 2,329 pins, and the girls accumulated 1,402 pins, each finishing in first place.
The Panthers will compete at home on Jan. 30.
