Derby Swim and Dive placed fourth at the Campus Meet with a total of 323 points.
Senior Owen King encouraged his teammates from the sidelines before their events. King, who competed in the KMSC Pro-Am Classic in Texas, was unable to participate in the Campus Meet III due to KSHSAA policy.
Despite not being able to swim, King consistently supported his teammates. “It sucks to see them get in a mindset where they can do it, but they just get in their head,” King said. “I come to the meets whenever I (am not competing), and I try my best to help them.”
Being a leader, King emphasized, involves not only showing up but also taking the initiative to support the entire team.
The Panthers are scheduled to compete again on Jan. 30 at Campus High School.
