When most think of bowling, it is typically not associated with religion. However when the girls bowling team began mixing the two, it stuck.
When senior Aleah Jones was asked to pray over the group, she agreed without hesitation. What she thought was a one time thing turned out to be a tradition.
“There was one meet last year where one of my teammates suggested we should pray before we started. I was asked to lead it, and I willingly agreed. At our first meet of this year, someone suggested we pray again. It has now become a tradition that before a meet begins, I lead the girls in prayer,” Jones said.
Even though it wasn’t initially her idea, Jones’ faith is even stronger and she’s closer to the team.
“I really enjoy leading the prayer because I feel like it is a good way for me to truly live out my faith in every aspect of my life, including my sports. For some it may be just a ritual, but for me, it means something,” Jones said.
