Teenagers have so much to worry about. School work, social lives, jobs, sports and many other activities that talk up a bulk of their time.
However, there’s something else that should be on everyone’s radar: politics.
“Politics don’t just affect adults and people who can vote. The issues in this country apply to everyone, including teens and young adults,” junior Lilly Araiza said.
Policies that are being sought by President Trump, like axing the Department of Education, are seriously impactful to students. Not only does it change how students will learn in the next couple years, but it also has long-term effects: FAFSA, curriculums, and educational initiatives are some of the responsibilities of the department.
“I am kind of scared to think about my future as a high schooler and college student because of what is going on now,” freshman Marci Arellano said. “I think it’s important to keep up with the news to know what is going on in our lives.”
There isn’t just one way to get involved in politics, there are so many different ways to acquire information and get involved. Even though politics can be a touchy subject, it is nonetheless crucial to stay informed and know what is going on in the country, state and even locally.
