After competing Friday, February 21 at the AVCTL meet, both the boys’ and girls’ bowling teams drastically improved.
The girls varsity team bowled their best event of the year and went from fourth to third. Along with that, the boys team became five-time league champions.
Taking third place was senior, Evan Clark with a score of 755 and taking first as league champion was sophomore Michael Stanger, with a score of 791- just nine away from a perfect game.
“It felt great to be a league champ and (it) was my first time winning it individually,” Stanger said. “(It was) an improvement on my third place finish from last season. This is my biggest individual win in high school.”
Two girls bowlers also placed in the top ten; junior Taylor Truesdale came in seventh with a score of 592 and senior Lacey Baney came in ninth with a score of 580.
“I love the bond we created last season, so carrying that into this season keeps it fun to bowl with each other while keeping our chemistry strong at the same time,” Stanger said.
