Senior Dax Benway is confident that even with Newton (1-1) hyped up to win after a close loss last week against Campus, that Derby will still be victorious on Friday.

Derby, which is 2-0, plays at 7 p.m. at Newton.

“Newton will be a pretty tough team to play against,” Benway said. “We’ve got to prepare really well this week and we can’t overlook them.”

The Panthers have been led by their defense, which has outscored the first two opponents 112-6.

Benway said that the defensive line has experience with eight seniors and three juniors.

“Our team has great chemistry,” Benway said.
