With only two school days left for the Class of 2025, the seniors went out with a bang.
From drawing and writing on car windows to throwing toilet paper and streamers in the commons, the seniors pranked the entire school for one last good memory.
“I had a lot of fun with this prank and I hope every thought it was funny, too,” senior Monty Beugelsdyk said.
The senior prank took awhile to plan. According to senior Ellie Beran, there was a list of supplies to buy from Walmart that cost about $400.
“I sent it to (teacher Lexie) Dill and I was like ‘we got permission to use STUCO funds. Could you do a Walmart trip?’ and she did,” Beran said.
Apart from all the planning and buying supplies, they had to figure out how to set up the prank.
“One of our biggest issues was that we wanted to not leave anyone out but at the same time we didn’t want 400 people being there,” Beran said. “So we tried not to leave anyone out by telling friends groups but also telling them to keep it on the low.”
Groups of friends showed up Wednesday night to help set up the prank.
“My favorite memory was hanging hotdogs from the ceilings,” senior Ben Irick said.
There’s no doubt that 2024-2025 was a year full of memories.
“Probably cheering and the snow state game,” senior Delaney Francis said. “It was very cold but we had a lot of snowball fights even though we didn’t come out with a win.”
Senior year is an important year. New opportunities appeared, new friends were made, new experiences had.
High school can seem very intimidating, but it’s always nice to have advice.
“Just keep a positive mindset because a lot of people kind of look negatively on everything and it affects them and everyone around them,” Francis said.
From walking into school and touching the bell your freshman year to leaving the school and ringing the bell. High school is whatever you make of it.
“Coming to Derby was the best decision I ever made.” senior Emily Crowell said.
