The beginning of spring has been a place for Panthers’ sports to find their stride.
The girls swim team got off to a hot start with several girls qualifying for state. It was Ridlee Parkhurst who stood out. The sophomore has swam every event and qualified for state in every one of those events.
The softball team started off undefeated before splitting with Bishop Carroll. Has continued to win games throughout the season and has a record of 17-5 of May 6. The baseball team had a rough start to the year, losing its first nine. The Panthers showed signs of life half-way through the season beating Blue Valley West, then sweeping Newton. They suffered a tough loss to Campus on a walk-off that snapped the streak. They beat Bishop Carroll 5-2 on May 5.
The boys tennis squad has had several notable performances. It’s been seniors Collin Bale and Garrett Haupt as the team’s frontrunners. The duo have played well together all season and look to make a deep run in the postseason.
The track and field team has been cruising. Several members are running in the Top 50 times in Kansas. one notable runner for the boys is senior Elijah Cross. Cross runs the 100 meter in 10.97 seconds. one notable girl on the team is sophomore Madison Askew, who ranks second in the state for shotput with a mark of 39 feet, 4 inches.
The boys golf team is trying its best to perform on the same level as the 2024 team. The young team is led by senior Michael Willey. Another notable golfer is Zach Lai.
